First stage – Project

23/08/2023

Choosing a boat is difficult, choosing a boat to build from scratch is fascinating and anything but complicated, just give space to your desires and aspirations as a sailor.
A pleasure boat must fully satisfy one’s needs, one’s free time to devote to the sea must be satisfied by the creation of an object that comes closest to one’s dreams.
Those who build a boat like us know it very well, we were born from an association of lovers of the sea and yachting constructions, walking along our street we met highly professional travel companions such as the project studio which provides us with truly ad-hoc technical solutions broad range.
Our potential customer provides us with what in the Navy is called the “Operational Requirement”, we make the requirement concrete with an art similar to maieutics.
We have formats to fill in that guide the potential customer step-by-step in drafting their operational requirement which will then be discussed together with our experts. We are talking about “potential” customers since the formulation of the operational requirement, even if guided by the CNT, is totally free and without any commitment.
Here are some steps of the requirement for a pleasure boat (it is possible on request to leave for a different route in the case of a work, transport or fishing boat):

  • Sporty and fast or quiet boat
  • Navigation near the coast or medium range (example Lazio coast – Sardinia, Sicily-Tunisia, Sardinia-Balearic Islands etc..)
  • Boat length (up to 8m, up to 10.50, up to 15m)
  • Berths and number of cabins
  • Total people who can embark
  • Normally we design motor boats, two diesels, confirm
  • Hull and superstructure design, modern, a little old style, open, pilot boat, fisherman
  • Maximum number of people on board

Once the requirement is ready, the CNT processes it and begins a first draft of the TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION.
Hull shapes are proposed that meet the operational requirement and a first overall design of the vessel is produced, along with its operational characteristics (max speed, cruising speed, fuel consumption, range) and a general layout of the interior spaces. The engine is also proposed.
At this point the potential customer decides whether to go ahead with the design. The CNT will make an economic proposal for the design only which in this phase will include the complete technical specification with the project drawings and the division of the areas. The customer will be provided with a cost breakdown based on the proposed construction material and the work hours deemed necessary for the construction of the boat, including costs for testing and CE and RINA certification.
Only then will the customer decide whether to continue. If so, the contractual documents will be drawn up and signed by both parties according to the agreed offer. And finally it’s off…..
